Car hire on the West Coast of Mauritius
The west is the sunset coast, with the mountains standing right behind it. Flic en Flac has the long beach and most of the self-catering; Tamarin is the surf and the dolphin bay; Riviere Noire is the way into the Black River Gorges and the port for the fishing boats. Further south Le Morne closes the peninsula above the kitesurfing water, and the road up to Chamarel reaches the seven coloured earths, the waterfall and the rum distillery. Albion, Petite Riviere and Bambous fill the cane land back towards the capital. The coast road is simple driving; the mountain roads are narrow, steep and worth the climb. From Rs 1,380/day.
