The south is the coast without a lagoon in front of it. At Souillac the sea hits the cliffs at Gris Gris and La Roche qui Pleure, and the water is for looking at rather than swimming in. Bel Ombre, on the south-west corner, has the estates, the golf and a beach that does swim. Between them, Chemin Grenier and Baie du Cap string along a coast road that stays close to the water all the way to the Maconde bend, and Nouvelle France is the turning inland for the climb to the plateau.
